Happy Easter! Or, as my sisters would say, Xristos Anesti y’all!
Headed to the Farmers Market today, as I punked out of hitting the beach for an en fam Easter. (Good idea, as it turns out; I lost my voice yesterday and am running on scratchy today.)
But anyway, plants! I bought more stuff to flesh out the hanging baskets:
A few more things to add to existing plant-ness:
Just so you know, I bit the bullet & put three of the sunflower seedlings in a planter:
And checked out all the others:
Phew! Time for my other purchase, a slice of savory steak, onion & mushroom pie from Dangerously Delicious pies. (With an assist from the parsnips & red potatoes I also picked up at the market today.) Happy Easter/Passover/Sunday!
Springtime can only mean one thing; time to rake up the leaves I didn’t bother with the fall before. I swear, it was for plant protection. Free mulch, as it were.
Yeah, sure.
So, leaving the sliding door wide open as I’m wont to do – c’mon in, bugs! Free room and board! – I go about moving containers and sweeping up.
Eventually, I look over to check on Tippi. And see Mr. Manny checking out the stairs. Outside. Mr. I Freak Out Over A Bug Fart. Outside.
I probably didn’t think the whole leaving the door open thing though.
So, playing it cool so Manny doesn’t find super strength in his own terror, I sit down and tell him he’s a good boy. He startles, but goes back to sniffing all the things.
I decide to get back to straightening, at least the stuff on my side of the backyard. He accepts my activity, and trots over to Tippi, who Is Not Happy her brother is in her official turf. But she gets over it, and shows him the pile of wood that used to be the deck (which is getting the boot, with some being used for a flower raised garden, later this week. Promise.)
I walked by Manny as he chewed the grass, and he was fine. Turning back, I noticed the pair trimming the flowers.
Five minutes later, I headed back out to rake. Manny wasn’t keen on that, and decided to sun on the top step instead. When I finished with the pile, he was nowhere to be seen.
He decided that comfy chairs beat dirt any day of the week.
I went on a looooong “urban hike” today, all around the Inner Harbor, Harbor East, and the Ritz Carlton area (by the AVAM). Phew. My legs? Currently hate me.
But I got a pretty nice picture of the Harbor over at the Ritz. So I share.
The east coast got hammered with a humongous snowstorm this week. Boston was especially hard hit. But here, only about 4″ ended up on the ground.
Things are still incredibly cold – and tomorrow looks like a below freezing day, ick – so stuff like mounds of snow on the yard furniture? Still sticking around
First, a disclaimer: I was going to put up a picture of MC – aka the Midnight Crapper – when s/he made an appearance on my deck last night (!!!), but 1) I didn’t know where my phone was, 2) I was so enamored of his/her fluffiness that I was gobsmacked, and 3) when I made a move to put chow down for him/her, s/he flipped and blew the scene. My bad.
So instead? Pics of the throng getting into the Ravens vs Browns game! We won, which is awesome. Especially after last week’s beat down.
I love this neighborhood during game day. Because I can see absolutely adorable fans.
Oh, and lest I forget, yesterday was the Shining Festival in our lovely Carroll Park. The lines were up, down and around the park! Yaaaaay! I popped down to hear a bit from The Reverend Horton Heat (they were great and btw) and saw all the peoples.
Gorgeous weather and tons of stuff in the hood. Perfect September weekendness.
I like pie. I really like pie when I can have a bite or two of many different types of pie, rather than just choosing one. Because I always feel like I made the wrong decision. So when the neighborhood cool spot, The Mobtown Ballroom, held a pie contest – B’more Pie – I had to hustle over. Many bites of pie later, and I still wanted a few nibbles for later. Happily, I got my wish. Bonus? I’m now dying to get back into pie-ing.
I missed the savory pies, which is a bummer. Why? Baltimore Comic-Con! I wandered around today, bought stuff, learned about what it takes to create comics, and saw some amazeballs costumes. Here’s my favorite.
I love beer. I love my neighborhood. So, I love Tommy’s, my local watering hole. Not just because they have The Walking Dead viewing parties, but that doesn’t hurt.
So I’m grinning like a five year old because I have one of the new koozies Tommy gives out every year. Because it says “Beer”! And has the bar 411. And is white & purple.
Yes. Give me a cute freebie and I’m in heaven. It really is that easy.
